Today our writing lesson went Hollywood and the children spent the session acting out the poem On the Move by Michael Rosen. Have a look below at what they got up to.

Our soft launch of room 17 was such an amazing hit and we are so pleased with everyone who took part and learnt something new. Have a look below where you can see Amelia who brought in the origami she made the evening before to share with the rest of the class. She also spoke about the amazing time she had and loved the traditional Indian dance at the end.

Here you can see our ACE musicians collaborating to create their final music piece. The children become familiar with a range of different instruments such as the agogo’s, tamborims, glocks and drums. Each instrument had a different beat to make this easy for the children to remember they had a catchy phrases such as sau sage and fish……and chips.

After our wonderful trip to the museum, the children were in their creative element and used the amazing outdoors to channel that energy. Here you can see Nicole and Harlee using chalk to draw the outer most covering of a sarcophagus. This part was usually very colourful and its features would mirror the pharaoh buried within.

Hey everyone, it’s Strider the Strider here!

Have you ever wondered how superheroes get to school? Do you think they zoom in on a batmobile or swing in on a spiderweb? Nope! Most superheroes, just like you, use their awesome super-strength… their LEGS!

That’s right! Walking, cycling, scooting – these are all ways to actively travel to school. And guess what? Actively travelling is super cool!

In class this week, we’ve been diving into the fascinating world of ancient Egyptian beliefs about what happens after death! Imagine traveling on a magical boat across the Nile River, facing fantastical creatures, and reciting spells to reach the afterlife. That’s just part of the incredible journey children are learning about. From mummification to the Great pyramids, the topic is sparking curiosity and a sense of wonder about this ancient civilization.

Fun fact – The heart is not removed but instead weighed to see if you were good or bad. Ancient Egyptian embalmers would place a scarab beetle on the heart to suppress it so it would speak against the owner of the soul!

WOW is a pupil-led initiative where children self-report how they get to school every day using the interactive WOW Travel Tracker. If they travel sustainably (walk/wheel, cycle or scoot) once a week for a month, they get rewarded with a badge. It’s that easy!

It’s simple to run and children love taking part. Each year, the collectable WOW badges are designed by pupils in our annual badge design competition. On average, WOW schools see a 30% reduction in car journeys taken to the school gate and a 23% increase in walking rates.

In Art, the children are developing their skills using different kinds of pastels. Last week they began by focusing on zooming in on a planetary surface and shading to make the cracks, craters and shadows apparent. This week we have looked at a range of different surfaces which included different colours and shapes. The children’s task was to fill in the blank in the same style as the complete original images.
